About Us
Bible Surf is designed to point you to websites, videos and speakers who present a historical, conservative, Bible-based view of the gospel. Then, you can dive deeper into those sites on your own that you might not have known about.
Also, Bible Surf has no ads – no one pays us for links – no donation requests – no email requests – just great content that's clutter free.
In what ways will this site help me since I can just surf the web myself?
We surf the web and link content primarily for three reasons.
1. To help save you time.
Let's face it. You're busy. So instead of you clicking around for hours, we select and curate the best sites meeting our conservative criteria and pass them along to you.
2. To help you avoid bad sites.
With ocean surfing, there are great spots to surf like Malibu, but many are mediocre or even downright dangerous. Likewise, there are great Christian websites, but some are filled with shallow reefs and dangerous rocks that can wreak havoc on your theology. For example, we don't post websites that emphasize "health, wealth, and prosperity" content. Instead, our intent is for you to be good Bereans like those in Acts 17 who examined the scripture for the true gospel.
3. To help you grow deeper in your faith.
Just to be clear, our links to talks and sermons are not meant to be a replacement for going to your own church, attending a Bible study, and serving in ministry. But they can be an addition to those activities. We are a parachurch ministry designed to come alongside the church. Our goal is to try to help you make every moment count. Try to listen to these speakers whenever you have a free moment. Click on one when you drive to work, do chores, exercise or have a cup of coffee. Your idle time then becomes productive time as you continue to learn and grow in your faith.
You might ask, why Bible Surf for a name?
The founder grew up in southern California and lived in Malibu and other coastal cities most of his life. And guess what? He enjoys surfing. An early morning surf session before work will leave one in awe of God's creation when you watch dolphins swimming, pelicans dive bombing for food, and the sun rising. So a name associated with surfing waves and surfing the web for Bible content has somewhat of a double meaning. And, Bible Surf is easy to remember when you tell your friends about us.
Do the pastors and websites we reference all agree on doctrine?
Not completely. There are plenty of differences within these sites on various views. For example, eschatology (end times) views can vary. Most hold a premillennial view of end times, but some hold an amillennial view or other variations. Yet they speak together at conferences and get along just fine. Most would view certain differences like these as non-salvific, secondary issues. Another example is our view of Genesis. Most sites we feature take a literal interpretation of the days of creation. Our mission is simple: curate content that glorifies God and points people toward Christ through various media.
Why did you pick the pastors you show on BibleSurf?
That's a great question. The pastors we link to are theologically conservative. Our founder has personally met and spent time with several of them. He may have joined them on an Israel tour or traveled to conferences to hear them preach. While there are many other great pastors to choose from, we’ve initially limited it to a small group.
How are you funded?
We're a founder funded, California nonprofit corporation 501(c)(3). And, we're all volunteers except we pay for various outside service providers like web hosting. We don't take donations. And, our aim is to remain ad free to reduce clutter and not compromise our conservative values by displaying ads we don’t agree with. We also don't collect names or emails, so no worries about them getting sold to others. Not that any of these things are bad, it's just not how we are doing things. Since we don't have a way to contact you when we post new videos and content, please check back often as we build out the site and add more category topics and speakers.
Does this site help the websites you link to?
Yes. The greater the number of outside links a site has coming in, a search engine judges the receiving site to be more popular than others. This helps the sites we link to rank higher in their search results so more people can find them. So every click from this site to theirs helps them. By the way, no one pays us to link to their sites, we just do it because we want to see the Word spread. We suggest you support the sites that you enjoy. And, sign up to receive their emails, devotionals, podcasts and apps.
Why did you create this site?
We found ourselves telling people to check out certain websites or to listen to this or that sermon. But you could only text them one sermon or website at a time without overwhelming them. So now, we can text or email someone BibleSurf.com and they'll have a whole website full of curated Bible-based videos, sermons and websites to visit. Hopefully, you'll enjoy the site and then spread the word too!
News flash! A swell is hitting up and down the Bible web coast. So suit up, paddle out and enjoy growing deeper in your faith!
God Bless!
