What does it mean “to be absent from the body and present with the Lord”?
If you die, you will be in heaven with the Lord
First, understand “absent from the body” means to die. At death, a believer’s spirit/soul separates from their body and immediately goes to heaven to be present with the Lord.
Paul says,
“We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord” (2 Cor. 5:8 KJV).
The physical body remains in the grave until resurrection day, when it will be transformed into a new, glorified body and be reunited with its spirit/soul in heaven.
