It's not very popular these days for pastors to talk much about hell. It scares people. It's confrontational. People might stop coming to church. So a pastor might soften the gospel message.

 

But Jesus mentioned hell or symbolic references to it more than any other person in the Bible. It's the fate that awaits all men by default. We are all guilty. No one is righteous. Hell is where we're headed.

Fortunately, Jesus came to earth to save us. To save us from what? Eternity in hell. 

​

The Bible describes hell as

• Unquenchable fire

• Outer darkness

• Everlasting destruction

• Torment, day and night forever

• Burning fire and brimstone

• Weeping and gnashing of teeth

The alternative is heaven, which is described as

• No more death, disease, or decay

• No tears, crying, or mourning

• No more pain or curse

• All things are made new

• An imperishable body

• A glorious, powerful, spiritual body

​

The message of salvation is simple. Romans 10:9 says,

“If you confess with your mouth Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.”

 

The Bible says the knowledge of God is evident within everyone through Creation and what He has made. Therefore, all are without excuse. Unfortunately, people suppress the truth that there is a God. Why? So they can keep on sinning. They don't want to be accountable, so they deny God.

 

Every reader of this article has received plenty of gospel light regarding the two options for eternity. One can't claim ignorance. Is it the broad way to hell? Or is it the narrow way to heaven?
